Is it possible to play an MP3 to death?

We managed to get tickets at Gloucester Cathedral to see Vonda Shepard (of Ally McBeal fame) tonight. She was absolutely awesome and opened with my favourite track from her latest album Rookie, “I Just Don’t Get it”. Singing a few other hits from Rookie and then invited the local choirs on stage and sang a few numbers with them. Seeming to enjoy herself, especially with the Beatles number “I Only Want to be With You”. Her voice soared! Next came the Ali McBeal era hits including a one-off choral version of the title track “Searchin’ my Soul”

We were lucky enough to get to meet her afterwards and fortunately I’d thought ahead and had snuck the Ali McBeal soundtrack CD into the camera bag.  I managed a few shots – although there’s not a whole lot of natural light in the Cathedral at 10 pm! – plus the CD auto’d into the bargain – well you can’t very well sign downlaoded MP3’s can you? Vonda admitted she has appeared before in several churches before but I guessed correctly and never a cathedral. It certainly created a mixing challenge, she’d even asked her mix guy to turn her piano down at one point during the concert ! A very welcome tonic to Wednesday. Thanks Vonda
